Winners of the Global Warming Solutions YouTube Video Contest Announced
Winning Student Videos Featured on Globalwarmingsolutions.org
Chicago, IL – Today the Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC) announced the winners of the organization’s YouTube Global Warming Solutions Video Contest. The contest asked high school students in the Midwest region to create short films that proposed solutions to global warming and post them on YouTube.
The first prize and runner-up videos were selected from videos submitted throughout the region. Judged by a panel of communications and marketing professionals, the winning videos displayed a creative and innovative approach to tackling the most serious environmental issue of our time, global warming.
The winning short film, entitled "Global Warming PSA - Plant a Tree, Yo" was produced by a group of four students, Danielle Hernandez, Amber Carl, Dusten Klindt and Sara Pape from Harlan Community High School in Harlan, Iowa. The video focused on the importance of planting trees to curb carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming pollution. The runner-up video was created by Tim Brown from Platteville High School in Platteville, Wisconsin. His video highlights using alternative energy, protecting our natural landscape and using fuel efficient vehicles to help solve global warming.
As ELPC’s top picks, the videos will be highlighted on www.globalwarmingsolutions.org GWS.TV and will receive prizes donated by Patagonia and Argo Tea in Chicago.
The Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC) is the Midwest's leading environmental, legal advocacy and eco-innovation organization. For more information, visit www.elpc.org and www.globalwarmingsolutions.org.
